If you see people fishing on the Connecticut River this week at midnight or 3 a.m., this may explain it: There is a professional carp fishing tournament from 9 a.m. today through 9 a.m. Saturday, 72 hours straight, day and night.
“The Connecticut River carp are large and healthy,” said Kathleen Kelly-Ori, who heads up publicity for the CARP Tournament Series. “This is the only U.S. tournament where we fish on tidal-affected waters. That is a challenge to the anglers who do not fish that type of water.”"
