The Seneca River is a winding canal and waterway in Central New York which serves as a watershed from portions of the Finger Lakes through tributaries to Lake Ontario. The first year, an unprecedented 28,544 pounds – or 14 tons of carp – caught during the 50-hour Northeast Regionals held May 16-19, 2007 in Baldwinsville, New York is a world record. A previous claim of a 7.5 tons record during a 72-hour tournament on the St. Lawrence River in 2006 appeared to be shattered at the 24-hour mark of the competition. Year two in 2008 was no surprise with over 18 tons of carp caught and released by 41 teams in 50 hours, and subsequently in 2009 an amazing 33,283 pounds were caught.

The big fish of the tournament was awarded to Andrew and James Deeley who brought this 34 lb. 0 oz. common to the bank with just minutes left in the 2009 competition.
Two-person teams from the United States and foreign countries vie for the cash prizes. Tournament organizers say the winners are determined by three factors: angling technique, the luck of the draw – meaning the team’s peg location on Seneca River fishery and the anglers’ stamina.

Jennifer Terriah shows off a beautiful 19 lbs. 14 oz. Seneca River mirror on the second day of the 2009 Northeast Regionals.
The planned course for the tournament will be from the Red Mill Inn to the Onondaga Lake Outlet – a distance of just about 5 miles. The format will be 2-person teams with the randomly drawn numbered pegs. The tournament will total 50 consecutive hours over 2 days. The contest will have a total weight prize which will determine champions for each competition. There will also be the traditional Big Fish award. Prizes will be announced in the spring of 2010. The CARP Tournament Series website will be updated with registration information.
CARP Tournament Series will be announcing additional U.S. Regional tournaments around the United States for the 2012 season. The regional events culminate with the season-end Tournament of Champions event which is held the last weekend of October each year.

Chris Jackson captured this nice common weighing in at 20 lbs. 6 oz. during day two of the 2009 Northeast Regionals.
CARP Tournament Series is very excited to be returning to the NE Regionals location again in 2010. The overwhelming friendliness and hospitality of Baldwinsville has been amazing. This is truly a “fishing friendly” community, and the local support has been nothing short of phenomenal. CARP Tournament Series is truly pleased to accept the invitation once again from the Red Mill Inn to partner with CARP Tournament Series and host a tournament for the fourth year in Baldwinsville, New York.
